The Chesapeake Bay is a fascinating place. From her Northern headwaters in the Susquehanna River to her outlet in the Atlantic Ocean, these nearly 200 miles of water, shorelines, and marshes; create wildly diverse environments and tailor to thousands of species. No matter the size or human interaction of the species, everything plays a vital role in the Chesapeake ecosystem.

The Men and Women who interact with the Chesapeake, are just as unique as her waterways. Each face tells a story and has a captivating tale.

I have set out to find the most interesting people on the Bay and document their story. From the watermen who work the water to bring the bounty of the bay to our tables, to the Pilots who guide ships into port. Each person brings a different perspective that creates the ultimate Chesapeake culture.

These are the folks who give the Chesapeake Character.
