Tropical Storm Debby came up the Bay and through Annapolis on August 9th, 2024. The surge from the storm pushed up the Chesapeake causing mass flooding around the area. I spent the morning documenting the record high water levels and speaking with the local business owners who were affected.

I spoke with Cameron Drew and Sveinn Storm who own and operate Storm Bros Ice Cream Factory. They were in the storefront armed with pumps and barricades attempting to hold back the Chesapeake from entering their store.

Holding back 20+ inches of water takes a lot of pumps and attention, they managed to hold back the water but with each storm they get more and more concerned about the new reality of our environment
